Scott Belsky once said, “it’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen”.

To make an idea happen, people require a chance and a nudge of belief from people with expertise. Popular B School of Hyderabad, VJIM just did that by providing a platform to students with entrepreneurial bent of mind to showcase their start-up ideas at “Ignitron”.

Ignitron was part of a three-day event of MILAN 2023 where an inter college business plan competition was held. ‘Manifestation of dreams’ being the theme of the competition, where contestants had to come up with a business plan which is innovative as well as be a possible solution to a problem.

All the teams went through a preliminary round where they explained the basics of their business plan. By the end of the 1st round, 5 teams qualified for the final round. The final round was judged by Dr Zahoor Ullah, the Chief Innovation Officer and Incubation officer at Aleap We hub, and Mr Vijay Bawara, Senior director – of start-up innovation at T-hub.

Contestants created unique pitches on diverse topics and put their best foot forward while the judges brought in fresh perspectives and shared their insights. The one pitch that fascinated the judges was from the group Mangaa – the team that hailed from Manipur and presented a business plan that reflected the soul of Manipur and stood by the theme “manifestation of dreams”.

Every pitch seemed as interesting as the other. From the use of blockchain in food services, to websites that can help in the creation of apps, and use of A.I. in the creation of models for construction etc.

The final presentations ended up in a tie. The team from Manipur, led by Okram Diamond from VIMIT Collage, Manipur and team from VNRVJIT, led by Hruthik Kumar and Abhiram shared the title and won prize money of Rs. 30,000.

Contestants noted down recommendations and suggestions from the judges on the business plans.

“Ignitron at VJIM Hyderabad was an initiative to offer students with entrepreneurial mindset a platform where they can showcase their startup plans and get guidance from professionals towards strengthening their start-up ideas and get help in acquiring some seed funding too,” said Prof. Ch. Durga Prasad, Director at VJIM Hyderabad.

The cricket fever is back in Hyderabad with a loud bang, as the Hyderabad based premiere management institute, Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management, (VJIM) as it completes 30 years in offering quality education, in association with The Hindu Future India Club (FIC) launches the T10 cricket tournament in three regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from Feb 17th 2023.

According to Dr. Ch. S Durga Prasad, Director of VJIM, “The T10 tournament has been organized for undergraduate students and young cricketers to demonstrate their skills in the field. Something like this is being organised for the first time post pandemic as an opportunity for the students community to once again participate in big tournaments and compete on a larger scale. This will also help us in identifying a cricketing talent pool which can be nurtured for the future by providing better facilities and support, both in sports and studies. Colleges from Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam participated in large numbers and we already have over 900 students from 64 teams, 32 from Hyderabad, 16 each from Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, each consisting of 15 players. Who knows at the end of the tournament we might see a few budding cricketers coming up!”

The action packed tournament will witness four matches played every day over a period of one week. All matches are of the “knockout” format and there will be 10 overs per innings. Students from colleges in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam will participate in the tournament, with the venue being Pallavi Model Schools at Hyderabad, Alwar Das grounds (M.V.P. Colony) in Visakhapatnam and V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College at Kanuru Vijayawada.
